Bachman’s Annual Garden And Art Expo Scheduled For April 18

  • Wednesday, April 8, 2015

Citizen’s Tri-County Bank and the Bachman Community Center announce the eleventh annual Garden and Art Expo scheduled for April 18 from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

"The Expo is your chance to add valuable and often unique plant materials to you garden in a convenient one-stop shopping spree.  Trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials, annual flowering and vegetable plants will be there for your choosing.  Selections will include native perennials, a good choice for the gardener and the environment," organizers said.

MAGI (the Mountain Arts Guild) will again exhibit and sell the works of their artist members.  There will be opportunities to purchase original art at affordable prices.  Many artistic mediums will be represented including oil, acrylic, water color, and constructions. Vendors from the Signal Mountain Farmer’s Market will be there with garden themed offerings.

New this year are free children’s activities. This includes a canvas art project, edible dirt cups and a seed planting activity. "We hope that customers will enjoy lunch with us. We’ll be serving up hot-off-the-grill hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks—a true family friendly event," organizers said.

A portion of the proceeds from this event go directly into the Nancy Bailey Memorial Summer Camp Scholarship Fund.  "Nancy was such a vital part of the development of the Bachman Community Center, a long time board member, former Bachman teacher and creator of our popular summer camps. Your contribution will ensure more children will be able to enjoy summer camp," organizers said. "We will be bringing back the popular Green Elephant Sale.  This is recycling at its best. Flower pots, gardening books, magazines, tools, and repurposed items that can be used in the garden will be for sale.  All of these items will need new homes, and all of the proceeds will benefit BCC."  Call the center at 423-886-4842 if you have Green Elephant items to donate.

Ticket prices at the door will be $5.  There is no charge for children 11 and younger.
Bachman Community Center is located at 2815 Anderson Pike in Signal Mountain.  For more information, contact the center at 423-886-4842 or email director@bachmancc.org.
