John States McKinney “T.J.”, 66, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. 

He was a native of Pennsylvania and moved to Chattanooga 30 years ago.  He was the owner of T.J.’s Tattoo and Art Studio in East Ridge and was a 32nd degree Mason of the Whorley Lodge #601 F&AM, the Alhambra Shrine of Chattanooga, and an honorary member of the Hillbilly Clan. T.J. was an “Old School” Harley Rider and tattoo artist.

His legacy lives on in his seven children, John McKinney, Kimberly McKinney, Tara McKinney, Felicia McKinney, Rin Hayes, Chynna Hayes, and Kali Zane States McKinney; brother and sister-in-law, William and Davina McKinney of Pennsylvania; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hearth Hospice and nurses, Lora Baker, Brandie Nelson, and Sharon Scofield for their care during this time.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
