The Sounds Of Motown At The Camp House Saturday

  • Monday, June 22, 2015

Jazzanooga kicks off the Live on the Big Nine performance series with a tribute to Motown's soul-infused pop music that solidified its popularity in American culture on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Camp House. Click here for tickets.

Motown once known as Hitsville, USA, propelled the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and many more. Motown "shattered barriers, shaped our lives and made us all move to the same beat."

The MLK Neighborhood has a history of being the place to be for live performances. Legendary artists from Bessie Smith, to Ella Fitzgerald to Duke Ellington have all left their mark on the Big 9.

Jazzanooga's Live on the Big Nine performance series engages local musicians and bands in performing throughout the MLK district from the Camp House, to Memo's Grill to Whiteside Park. Every month they aim to bring something new to get the "Boulevard hopping."
