  • Friday, June 26, 2015

As a continuation of Blood Assurance’s Hero Week, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Chattanooga Police Department, is co-sponsoring a local blood drive on Monday in honor of long-time Blood Assurance supporter and donor, Lamar Moore.

For many years, Mr. Moore served as the executive director of the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers for the Chattanooga and Hamilton County area.

During his tenure as executive diirector, Mr. Moore offered guidance and wisdom to numerous law enforcement agencies, officials, and officers.  Those who knew him best, knew he was an avid supporter of giving blood in support of Blood Assurance. In fact, Blood Assurance states, as part of his dedication to helping those in need, Mr. Moore donated on average, 24 times per year with an estimated cumulative lifetime total of more than 50 gallons of blood.

Mr. Moore was also widely known for his support of law enforcement charities and was instrumental in starting the “Battle of the Badges” and served as the committee treasurer for “Guns and Hoses.”

The Lamar Moore Blood Drive will take place on Monday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Blood Mobile located at 601 Walnut St. between the Courts Building and the County Jail.

Those who are unable to donate during this time may do so at any time during the week of June 29-July 3 at the Blood Assurance Building located across from the UTC Arena, and say they are donating in honor of Lamar Moore.  Participants will receive a free snack, T-shirt, and the chance to win a new gas grille.
