CARTA officials said three new routes will be added to serve the Enterprise South Industrial Park.
Service is set to start Aug. 17 from Eastgate/East Ridge, Northgate and Summit/Ooltewah.
Lisa Maragnano, CARTA executive director, said there will be two trips in the morning and two trips in the evening to the burgeoning jobs site that includes the huge Volkswagen and Amazon.com plants.
The new routes will be a supplement to the downtown express launched earlier.
Ms. Maragnano said that route has doubled its passengers from May to June from just over 20 to 43 a day.
She said a "big marketing campaign" is planned to help bring attention to the new service.
Ms. Maragnano said one stop will include Camp Jordan in East Ridge, where work is set to start soon on a Bass Pro Shop.
The service is being funded by a federal grant of $1.73 million coupled with $433,000 from the city. That will cover the service for three years.
After that, Ms. Maragnano said the service will be evaluated and new funding will be sought. She said jobs access grants may be one possibility.
