UTC Cross-Country Opens Season at Belmont

The 2015 University of Tennessee at Chattanooga cross country schedules were released Wednesday. The slate features two home meets along with a pair of road competitions.
 
The Mocs will open the season on the road at the Belmont Invitational in Nashville, Tenn., on Saturday, September 5. The meet will begin at 10 a.m. Eastern Time at the Percy Warner Park with the women’s 5K. The men’s 5K will follow 30 minutes later.
 
On Friday, Sept. 11 Chattanooga will host the PowerAde Invitational, the first of its two home meets.
The women’s 2-mile event will begin at 5:45 p.m. with the men’s 5K to follow. The meet will be run at the Moccasin Bend Race Course along the Tennessee River.
 
Chattanooga’s next meet will wait until October with the USC Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. The race will start at 9:00 a.m. at the Milliken Research Center with the women’s 5K. The men’s 8-kilomter race will follow.
 
The Mocs will host the Front Runner Invitational Saturday, Oct. 17 with the women’s 2-mile race at 3:00 p.m. followed by the men’s 5K to close out the regular season. The Southern Conference Championships will be held in Greenville, S.C., Saturday Oct. 31 hosted by Furman University.
 
The Mocs will close out the season in the postseason with the NCAA South Regional on Nov. 13 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and the NCAA National Championships in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday, Nov. 21.
 
Chattanooga returns senior Paul Stuart (Brentwood, Tenn.) who sat out last season along with classmates Austin Casassa (Nashville, Tenn.) and Zachary Darby (Knoxville, Tenn.). The women’s team returns All-American Teghan Henderson (Pickering, Ontario), senior Rebecca Greenwall (Bogart, Ga.), junior Maddison Melchionna (Afton, Tenn.) and sophomore Emily Drouin (Verona, Ontario).
