Kishi Bashi
Kishi Bashi

The Nightfall Concert Series continues Friday with the indie rock headliner Kishi Bashi, preceded by local opener Butch Ross.

Presented and produced by Chattanooga Presents, this 19-week free outdoor concert series is held every Friday at Miller Plaza and features headline performances by a broad spectrum of music performed by national and international artists.

Review for Kishi Bashi:

K. Ishisbashi is an indie rock musician known for his looped and sampled music led by his violin. Ishibashi, who puts his first and last names together to create his performance name, Kishi Bashi, is somewhat of an outlier in his genre.  Born in Seattle, Wa., Ishibashi grew up in Norfolk, Virginia where both of his parents were professors. Post-high school, he went on to study classical music and became a renowned violinist.

Ishibashi has recorded and toured internationally as a violinist with diverse artists such as Regina Spektor, Sondre Lerche and most recently the Athens, Ga. based indie rock band, of Montreal. Kishi Bashi is also the singer and founding member of the New York electronic band, Jupiter One. While Ishibashi has established himself as a bold, boundary-testing musician—his ability to loop intricate vocal melodies with equally complex instrumental counterparts live puts him in the top of many like-minded performers.

Review for Butch Ross:

Butch Ross is a local musician who boasts a dulcimer on stage. At first, the instrument was a curiosity but before long it became his instrument of choice. A chance meeting with musician, author and producer Robert Force (himself a dulcimer iconoclast) led to the 2005 release "The Moonshiner’s Atlas" and a complete change of focus. Since then Ross has become an in-demand performer at folk and dulcimer festivals through the U.S. and Europe. He’s performed at such festivals as the Central Ohio Folk Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and the Lancaster (U.K.) Music Fest.

Food trucks and non-alcoholic drink concessions are available on site. Outside food or beverages are not allowed to be brought in to Nightfall.
