Fleischmann, DesJarlais Vote No On Iran Deal

  • Friday, September 11, 2015

Congressmen Chuck Fleischmann and Scott DesJarlais were among those voting against President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran on Friday.

Rep. Fleischmann said,  "From the outset, President Obama said ‘no deal is better than a bad deal’.  Now, after almost two years of negotiations we have been presented a deal that would allow Iran to continue their dangerous nuclear ambitions and empower them to advance their extremist, belligerent campaign for Middle East power.  Our number one priority must be the safety of America and with that as my core concern I voted against the Iran deal.”

Congressman DesJarlais, said, “Despite significant bipartisan opposition from both chambers of Congress as well as a vast majority of the American public, President Obama has chosen to move forward with his misguided proposal. The so-called Iran Deal substantially furthers Iran’s ability to achieve their dangerous nuclear ambitions. This puts both our national security and the security of our Middle Eastern allies in great jeopardy. We must not forget that Iran remains the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and has consistently threatened to wipe Israel off the map.

“Today, the House has done its job in a bipartisan fashion by rejecting this proposal. Now the Senate must act. I hope that Senate Democrats will stand with the American people by striking down the administration’s dangerous gamble. The only acceptable option is for Iran to completely eliminate its nuclear program.”
