Frances Wilcox Striebinger
Frances Wilcox Striebinger, 93, died on September 21, 2015.
She was born in Chattanooga and was the daughter of the late Orlando King Wilcox and Frances Bond Wilcox. She graduated from Girls Preparatory School and Fairmount Junior College. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal and a member and former officer of the Junior League of Chattanooga.
Mrs. Striebinger was also member of the Judge David Campbell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was a member of the Lookout Mountain Beautiful Garden Club, was a former Third District director of the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs and a past president of the Chattanooga Council of Garden Clubs. She was a state and national life member. She was president of the Garden Club several times and received the Anna Law Spirit Award for dedication and enthusiasm.
Mrs. Striebinger was a 50+ year volunteer for the American Red Cross. She served on the board of directors for many years. She was a volunteer of the year and was elected to the Red Cross Hall of Fame.
If you knew Fran, then you would know of her love for dogs. For years she and Strieb would walk the mountain with dog biscuits in their pockets for any canines that would cross their path. And how she loved to sit in front of the window and watch the Cardinals come to the bird feeder on her front porch. She always had a smile on her face and her laughter was contagious. There is a picture of a clown in her kitchen that reads “Be Happy, Don’t Worry”. That’s was Fran!!
Her parents, her husband, Captain William Gray Shultz who died in World War II, and her husband of 61 years, William Earl Striebinger preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Helene Striebinger Reisman of Chattanooga; son, William Gray Shultz, Jr. (Rossella) of St. Cloud, FL.; grandchildren, Wendy Reisman, Signal Mtn, TN, Dr. William (Natalie) Reisman, Atlanta, Eden and Francesca Shultz both of St. Cloud, FL; great-grandchildren, Michael and Lawson Barrueta and Jackson, Lauren, and Barrett Reisman.
The family will receive friends at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 211 Franklin Road, Lookout Mountain, Tn. at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25. The service will begin at 3 p.m. followed by the burial in the Harriett Caldwell Memorial Garden.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hamilton County American Red Cross, the Lookout Mountain Beautiful Garden Club or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
