Former University of Tennessee men’s basketball head coach Donnie Tyndall has volunteered to serve as the associate athletic director at Tennessee Wesleyan College this year. Mr. Tyndall and his wife, Nikki, have moved to Athens, where Mr. Tyndall will begin his tenure as volunteer associate AD.

“I am very excited about my new position at TWC,” Mr.

Tyndall said. “I am thankful for this incredible opportunity.  This position will give me the chance to share my experiences with our student athletes and help them launch their careers. My goal is to help our college, our community and our students. I’m very thankful to the entire TWC family for welcoming me in. I can't wait to get started!”

As associate athletic director, Mr. Tyndall’s primary role will be game management. He will attend TWC athletic events to ensure the events run smoothly.

“I’m looking forward to Coach Tyndall joining the TWC Athletic Department as associate athletic director,” TWC Athletic Director Donny Mayfield said. “He and I have discussed several administrative tasks that he will oversee, and I feel that his years of athletic experience at different collegiate levels will only enhance the department and our athletic offerings at TWC.

During his time at TWC, Mr. Tyndall hopes to share some of the lessons he has learned with the athletes and coaches he comes in contact with. He chose to volunteer at TWC in part because of TWC’s commitment to servant leadership, a cause in which Mr. Tyndall believes deeply.

“Coach Tyndall has a servant’s heart,” Mr. Mayfield said, “and I appreciate his willingness to volunteer with our athletic department to aid in the supervision of our athletic programs and provide his insight with new ideas and experiences that will better serve our campus and community.”
