American Quilter’s Society Presents AQS QuiltWeek - Chattanooga 2015

American Quilter’s Society, the largest quilting membership organization in the world, announces the return of its popular AQS QuiltWeek event in Chattanooga. The Chattanooga AQS QuiltWeek event will run from Sept. 16-19 at the Chattanooga Convention Center, 1150 Carter S.

"More than 12,000 people will converge on the Chattanooga area to enjoy four days of the best in international quilt and textile artistry. Over 500 quilts will be on display, with more than $50,000 in prizes to be awarded at the event for quilting excellence. In addition, AQS QuiltWeek will be hosting a series of workshops with some of the top talent in the quilt industry and an extensive merchant mart comprised of both local and national vendors," officials said.

Included in the QuiltWeek celebrated exhibits are the SAQAä Wide Horizons IV exhibit of thirty quilts from leading fiber artists and the Red, White & Quilted exhibit featuring antique quilts procured by Linda Baxter Lasco. An exhibit from The National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Ky., New Quilts from an Old Favorite: Nine Patch, will be on display, along with the Stitch Like an Egyptian exhibit which showcases khayamiya art by the Tentmakers of Cairo.  Evening events feature world-renowned celebrities presenting their unique spin on fabrics, quilting, and life. 

Admission to AQS QuiltWeek includes access to all special exhibits and the extensive Merchant Mall.  Hours are Wednesday, Sept. 16, through Friday, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Ticket and additional information can be found at http://www.quiltweek.com/chattanooga or by calling 1-270-898-7903.  The event is open to the public.
