Dalton State Women Tie For 1st In Twilight Invitational

  • Friday, September 4, 2015

Varnell, Ga. – The Dalton State women and SCAD Atlanta finished tied for first with 44 points each in the inaugural Dalton State Twilight Invitational Friday at historic Prater’s Mill, but the Roadrunners received the First Place Plaque by virtue of the tie-breaker. The sixth place runner’s score.

The Bees claimed the top three spots, but after that they were 15th, 23rd, 41st and 58th. Dalton State’s Emily Poole and Natalie Hensley were fourth and fifth as all seven Roadrunners were in the top 20.

“I’m extremely proud of our women,” said DS Coach Margie Bruna.

“They ran a great race especially for how early it is in the season. It came down to our sixth girl and she fought hard for her place. That shows we have some depth this year. Emily (Poole) ran a great race for the first race of her college career.”

The next Dalton State race will be in the North Georgia Invitational at the University of North Georgia’s course in Gainesville.
