Mary Louise “Lucy” Shaver, of East Ridge, died on Wednesday, January 6, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 76 years, Tom Shaver, as well as her parents, Julian and Annie Lane, one brother, Jimmy Lane and three sisters, Lorraine Knight, Catherine Wilson, and Mabel Fridel.
She is survived by one brother, Julian Lane of Nashville; son, Robert “Butch” (Dee Dee) Shaver; two granddaughters, Buffi Crouch and Amber (John) Clemmer; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Clemmer, Paul Jefferson “PJ” Crouch, Rand Beck, and Sarah Grayce Crouch; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She retired from the Hamilton County School System after serving 28 years as secretary of McBrien Elementary School.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a longtime member of East Ridge Baptist Church (now Crosspath Church).
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South. Pallbearers include Cameron Clemmer, Alexander Alford, Randy Edgeman, Buddy Knight, Rusty Knight, and Tony Melton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crosspath Church of East Ridge, 4201 Ringgold Road, East Ridge, Tn., Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416, or to your favorite charity.
