Cleveland Named One Of Nation's Best Retirement Destinations

  • Thursday, October 13, 2016
Cleveland, Tn. is one of the nation's best destinations for retirees planning to relocate, according to Where To Retire magazine.

Cleveland is profiled in an article titled "7 Low Cost Cities" in the November/December 2016 issue of the magazine, now available nationwide.

Annette Fuller, Where To Retire editor, said in a media release that those seeking to relocate for their retirement years are looking for locations that offer a low cost of living as well as an active lifestyle.
The seven featured cities offer a variety of shopping and dining experiences, outdoor adventures, and a variety of cultural experiences without a high cost of living, Ms. Fuller said.

"This is news Clevelanders have always known," said Mayor Tom Rowland. "I ask a lot of people who retire in Cleveland and the answers are usually the same, beautiful country, great people, friendly people, and low cost of living and low taxes.

"Many retirees are parents of former Lee students who have visited  them and fell in love with our community and decided to stay."

Each year, according to the magazine, 700,000 retirees seek to relocate for retirement years. Many cities seek to attract these retirees as a source of local economic development, the article states.

Cities featured in the article include: Bullhead City, Az.; Cleveland, Tn.; Idaho Falls, Id.; Laramie, Wy.; Lynchburg, Va.l Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and Palm Coast, Fl.
