Lee University Theatre will continue its 2016-17 season with the production of the well-known drama, “Dracula,” written by Nathan Jeffrey. Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 28-29 and Nov. 3-5. On Oct. 30, a matinee show will take place at 2:30 p.m. All showings will take place in Lee’s Dixon Center Auditorium.

In this new version of the classic horror tale, the original tone and intention of the “Dracula” is resurrected in order to deliver a profound and disturbingly believable tale of an eternal battle between darkness and light, between hope and despair, and between life and death.

“We are very excited to bring this classic story to the Dixon stage,” said Dr. Christine Williams, play director and associate professor of theatre at Lee. “This is a great adaptation of the original novel and strips away much of the popular culture elements that have been added to the story over the years. This adaptation returns to the original tale and emphasizes the struggle between those of faith and evil in our world.  It is a great testament to Bram Stoker’s original novel.”

Cody Glover will play the title role of Dracula. Other performers include Jon Bouvier, Caroline Byrd, Marybeth Davis, Jordan Hope, Ben Jones, Jake Wallin, and Stephanie Wolfe. Hanna Blessing will serve as stage manager, Caleb Siler as assistant stage manager, and Claire Graves as costume designer.

Tickets for the production will be available at the box office in the Communication Arts Building Monday-Friday, 3-6 p.m. beginning Oct. 19, and one hour before curtain time at the Dixon Center box office. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children and seniors. The show is recommended for ages 12 and up.
