Covenant Men Second, Women Fourth At USA Cross Country Championships

The Covenant men's cross country team placed second, while the women finished fourth at the USA South Cross Country Championships on Saturday at TFS Farms in Tallulah Falls.

With the finishes, the USA South also announced its All-Conference awards. The All-Conference teams were determined by finish in each race. Covenant had seven total runners earn All-Conference accolades.

On the men's side, Covenant put three runners in the top 10 as Micah Sneller again paced the Scots with his 8k time of 28:52, which placed him fourth overall.
Sneller's finish earned him a spot on the All-USA South first team for a second consecutive year. Caleb Keitt came in seventh with his time of 29:05 and also picked up first team All-USA South honors. Matthew Tueller finished 10th overall and was a second team All-USA South honoree after a time of 29:35.

Nathan Bierema (29:35) finished 17th and Phil Carrenard (31:30) was 21st to round out the top five Covenant runners. Phil Moore was 22nd with a time of 31:52 and was Covenant's representative on the All-Sportsmanship team.

Piedmont captured the conference title with 30 points, while Maryville Daniel Beckett won the individual crown. Beckett was named the conference's Rookie and Runner of the Year.

The women placed four runners on All-USA South teams. Hannah Samuels led Covenant with a sixth place finish and a time of 25:23 to earn first team All-USA South. Margaret Fitch placed 12th in the event after completing the course in 26:10 and earned second team All-USA South honors.

Anna Danek (25:56) and Caroline Pepper (27:02) finished 21st and 22nd, respectively, and both earned spots on the honorable mention team. Juliette Henry completed the top five for Covenant with a time of 31:27.

Lilly Smith was Covenant's representative on the USA South All-Sportsmanship team.

Piedmont also took the women's team title with four runners in the top 10. Piedmont's Reese Bowles took the individual title and was named the USA South Runner of the Year, while the Lions' Casey Todd was the Rookie of the Year.
