Cleveland Holds Veterans Day Program

Cleveland and Bradley County honored local veterans Friday with a ceremony at the Courthouse Plaza.

Billy G. Gray was awarded the Raymond H. Miller Patriotic Award for his support for fellow veterans. Mr. Gray enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at 17 years old in 1967. He was severely wounded in Vietnam.

The guest speaker was Lieutenant Commander Tim White, U.S. Navy. Lt. Comm. White was on duty when the U.S. Naval Support Center in Chattanooga was attacked by a terrorist in 2015.

Mayor Tom Rowland was master of ceremonies for the Veterans Day event.
Patriotic music was provided by the Cleveland High School Band. The U.S. Naval Sea Cadets, Chattanooga Division posted the colors.

The Cherokee Blossom Quilt Guild presented quilts to two veterans, Mary Baier and Roy Smith.
