School Buses And Rolling Stops - And Response

  • Monday, November 21, 2016

Every day I see school buses doing rolling stops at intersections clearly mark STOP. One just yesterday did a rolling stop and pulled onto Shallowford Road right in front of me.

I had to swerve to get into the other lane. I blew my horn and they blew their horn back at me. Add that to the list of hundreds of others including police cars that do rolling stops and it is a scary environment.

There is a grave danger for law abiding citizens; especially considering all the motorcycle deaths that occur due to the rolling stop insanity.

A story was told about a car doing a rolling stop and was pulled over by a good cop. The officer asked the person why they didn't stop at the stop sign and the driver stated that he at least slowed down. The officer took out his baton and started hitting the driver on the head. The officer then asked the driver "Do you want me to stop or just slow down?"

Lesson learned.

Mr. Varner,

Now is not the time to fuss about school bus drivers and rolling buses and how you had to "honk" at a driver.  There are six plus children dead and multiple children injured.  Pray for the families and our community.
