Marr, Calvin "Red" (Cleveland)

Calvin “Red” “Pop” Marr, 77, of Cleveland, Tennessee, died on Monday, November 21, 2016.

He was of the Baptist faith. He was born on March 11, 1939 to the late Houston Marr and Abbie Mae Morgan Marr. Red gave six years service to the National Guard as a number one gunner. He was a mostly self-employed logger and had a love for fast and fabulous old cars. He was well known as “Pops” to the younger crowd for street racing. He had a passion for gardening and his lawn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Jimmie Ruth Farris Marr; sister, Pauline Washburn of Cleveland; and twin brother, Alvin “Speedy” Marr, of Cleveland.

He is survived by his two sons, Danny Marr (Cathy) of Cleveland and Daniel Marr (Brenda), also of Cleveland; two grandsons, Johnathan (Jennifer), of Sweetwater and Nathan (Taylor), of Old Fort; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Drake and Grace; brothers, Pete Marr (Lillian) and Kenny Marr (Carolyn); and sister, Mary Ann Ledford, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Ronald McDowell officiating the service. Interment will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Johnathan Marr, Nathan Marr, Billy Thomas, Randy Flowers, Chris Shope, Mark Baxter, and Christopher Shope serving as pallbearers. Wyatt Marr and Drake Marr will be serving as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday Nov. 25 at Companion Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
