City Council Approves Rezoning For Commercial Project Near Valleybrook

  • Wednesday, December 14, 2016

The City Council on Tuesday night approved rezoning for a commercial development near Valleybrook in Hixson despite some concerns by local residents.

The project is on 6.7 acres across from Publix on Hixson Pike at Cassandra Smith Road.

Developer Steve Bovell said he agreed that a convenience store with a fuel station would not be part of the project. In its place will be a building for 4-6 shops.

There will also be restaurants in two other buildings.

A new traffic light will be installed that can also be used by the adjacent Valleybrook Presbyterian Church, it was stated.

A tree border will be retained and there will be a fence added near the new commercial buildings to help shield light and noise from nearby residents.
