Laura Mae Jackson Reese, known to everyone as “Mimi”, a longtime resident of Chattanooga and Brentwood, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, November 24, 2016, at the age of 93. 

The oldest of five children, she was born in Nashville and raised in Tullahoma, Tn. 

Mimi is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Annie Mae Poole Jackson; her sister, Mildred Jackson Pingree; and grandson, Stewart Lawrence.  Fred D. Stewart, Silas “Snooks” Walston, and Ira Reese, beloved husbands, also preceded her in death.

A member of Brainerd Baptist Church and the Love Sunday School Class, she is survived by her brothers, Roy Jackson, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fl.; and Captain Bob Jackson, USN, of Pensacola, Fl.; her sister, Jeanne Weeks of Pensacola; daughters, Patricia Stewart Leigh (Gene), Carolyn Stewart Cross; and Brenda “Starr” Cross (Gary); and son Fred W. Stewart (Sharon) along with a large family that includes 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Brainerd Chapel, with a memorial service at 1 p.m. officiated by Pastor Steve Rowland of Brainerd Baptist Church. 

Graveside interment will directly follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in her honor.
