James A. Hicks, 79, of Benton, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at a Chattanooga hospital.
He loved to hunt and fish and motorcycle ride. He was an avid bird watcher and made many bird houses through the years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leana Presswood Hicks; daughter, Teresa Mantooth; parents, James L. and Velma Nola Pike Hicks; and brothers, Arlie Hicks and R. D. Hicks.
He is survived by his children, Troy (Kelly) Hicks of Benton, TN, Donna Climer of Cleveland, TN, Tammy (Donnie) Moore of Decatur, TN; grandchildren, Jared Hicks, Holly Moore, Kayla (Clay) Thomas, Austin Leight, Tyler Leight and Jeffery Davis; sisters, Clara (William) Peels, Ruth (Rusty) Mendenhall and Edna (Jerry) Freeman; brothers, Lake (Trudy) Hicks and L.C. (Janey) Hicks; andseveral nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Charles Cheatham officiating.
Interment will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4 in Cambria Baptist Church cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
