16-Year-Old Driver Runs Red Light In Dalton; Runs Into Car That Lands On Its Top

A 16-year-old driver ran a red light in Dalton on Tuesday afternoon and struck another vehicle that landed on its top.

At approximately 4 p.m., a Toyota Avalon driven by the Dalton teen was traveling northbound on Cappes Street when itl ran the red light at the intersection with Waugh Street.

A GMC Jimmy driven by 21-year-old Lacey Clark of Dalton was traveling westbound on Waugh Street and was hit in the side by the teen’s car. The impact caused the Jimmy to flip onto its roof.

Both Ms. Clark and her passenger, 43-year-old Robert Merriman of Dalton, escaped the crash with only minor injuries but they were transported to Hamilton Medical Center as a precaution.

The investigation into the crash is continuing and citations against the teen are pending.
