UTC Women's Soccer Team Hosts Scrimmages Saturday

  • Friday, April 1, 2016
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team will host a pair of scrimmages in April at Finley Stadium.

On April 2, the Mocs will bring in Tennessee Tech and Austin Peay for a round-robin type scrimmage. Chattanooga and Tennessee Tech will battle it out at 11:30 a.m. followed by the Golden Eagles and Austin Peay. The Lady Govs and UTC will meet at 3:30 p.m. for the final matchup. Each match will be two 25 minute halves.

On April 9, Chattanooga will host Tennessee Wesleyan in a full on scrimmage with a pair of 45 minutes halves.

The Mocs' roster features a large number of veterans along with a few newcomers.

"This group has worked hard throughout the spring," Chattanooga head coach Gavin McKinney said.
"We've seen improvement on the pitch in the training sessions and look forward to competing against two good opponents this weekend."

Chattanooga's lineups may look a bit different with players in unfamiliar positions.

"Spring is the time to be creative with our lineups and style of play; test lineups and positions," McKinney said. "Being open and creative is how we approach spring in our style of play."

The scrimmages are open to the public and free of charge. Gates open on hour prior to kickoff.
