  • Monday, April 18, 2016
The stage is set. The Steinbrecher Cup defending champion Chattanooga FC will host Quinto Elemento Friday, May 27th at 7:30 pm in the fourth annual U.S. Soccer National Amateur Championship. The Chicago Fire (PDL) and West Chester United will play in the earlier match Friday, May 27th, at 5:00. The winners from Friday's matches will face off Saturday, May 28th, at 7:30 with a consolation match played just before at 5:00pm. All matches will be played at Finley Stadium.

The Scenic City is hosting the event for the second year in a row, and is quickly become the center of the US amateur soccer universe.
"Chattanooga was an amazing host last year and we're excited to bring the championship back to Finley Stadium. I look forward to seeing the teams battle it out for the Hank Steinbrecher Trophy," says US Adult Soccer Executive Director Duncan Riddle, "The title of best amateur team in the United States is again on the line."

"It's an honor to host this great event again this year," Sean McDaniel, General Manager for Chattanooga FC says "Quinto Elemento is a strong team, and we will really need our fans out there to support the club and help us keep the Steinbrecher Cup in Fort Finley."

Chattanooga FC Season tickets include entry to all four cup matches, and individual tickets will be available soon. For more information and to purchase your tickets, visit Chattanoogafc.com

The namesake of the tournament, Hank Steinbrecher, served as US Soccer’s General Secretary from 1990 through 2000. Hank took a lead role through direct day-to-day involvement in marketing the sport of soccer to potential sponsors, helping U.S. Soccer's corporate family grow throughout the 1990's. Part of his success in this area translated into strong funding of soccer's national teams at all levels. By the end of the 1990's, the U.S. Women had won two Women's World Cup crowns and had built a record unrivaled in sport. The U.S. Men during that period appeared in three World Cups, won a Gold Cup and finished third at two Confederation Cups.

Steinbrecher and his wife attended last year’s tournament and hope to attend this year’s as well.
