  • Saturday, April 23, 2016
The Chattanooga Mocs softball team hosts Mercer in Frost Stadium for a doubleheader Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) and a lone game Sunday at 2:00 p.m. UTC is coming off two wins over in-state opponents this week, making its record 24-21 and 4-5 in Southern Conference play.

Tickets for individual games in Frost Stadium are $5 for adults and $3 for youth. UTC students are admitted free with a valid Mocs Card. Call the UTC Ticket Office at (423) 266-MOCS (6627) or click the 'Ticket' link at the top of the page to order.

The first 200 students at Sunday's game receive a Mocs Tervis style cup, while one student will win a GoPro Hero.

"As long as we keep believing we can win going into this conference series with Mercer, good things can happen," head coach Frank Reed stated.

The Mocs beat Tennessee Tech 6-2 in Cookeville, Tenn., on Monday, with three home runs among its 13 hits.
The squad continued its strong offense into a 10-5 win over Tennessee State on Wednesday, racking up 16 hits.

Senior Criket Blanco boasted impressive results in both games. Against the Golden Eagles, she hit two homers and one double and batted in three. Then she followed with two doubles and four RBI versus the Tigers.

Chattanooga's last conference weekend was a series win over Western Carolina April 9-10. After a 3-0 loss in Cullowhee, the Mocs swept a DH 4-3 and 12-2.

UTC leads the Bears 20-11 all-time. The two squads played each other on five occasions in the 2015 season. Chattanooga dropped the regular season series 2-1 in Macon, Ga., while winning 7-6 and 3-1 to claim the SoCon Tournament title.

Mercer is 19-26 and 2-7 in league action. The Bears are coming off series losses to ETSU and UNCG.

Taylor Miller has a team-best .423 batting average and 63 hits, while leading the league in stolen bases with a 0.49 average. She earned Mercer's lone SoCon weekly honor on March 21.
