Alvin D. Burkhart, 62, of Red Bank, died at his home on Friday, April 22, 2016. 

Al was born in Chattanooga to the late Thomas Burkhart and Louise Burkhart Lewis.  He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area.  Al retired from Marathon Oil with over 26 years.  Al loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. 

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dee Burkhart; children, Katherine Burkhart and her fiancé Robbie Peoples and John (Samantha) Burkhart; sister, Kristy (Bob) Jackson; brother, Scott Sharp; several nieces and nephews; his beloved dog, Lucy

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, April 25, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A private graveside service for the family only will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Al’s name to the McKamey Animal Shelter, 4500 North Access Road, Chattanooga, TN 37415.   

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
