Morning Pointe Residents Garden With Global Gratitude

  • Saturday, April 23, 2016

On the 46th anniversary of Earth Day, marigolds, begonias and verbenas stole the show at The Lantern Alzheimer's Center of Excellence, Collegedale, with help from Wallace A. Smith Elementary School students.

As a part of the Meaningful Day™ programming, the Life Enrichment Program at the memory care community gives residents the opportunity to engage in annual awareness events that are echoed across the globe. The program emphasizes intergenerational activities that are fun for everyone.

The memory care residents schooled Mrs.

Bain's fourth-grade class on how to plant flowers. "I just love those kids," said Wade Cowart, resident at The Lantern at Collegedale. "One little girl didn't know how to dig a hole, so I said, 'Here, let me show you how.' So we did it together and it was just great!"
