“Reality Rides” Makes Pit-Stop In Chattanooga On Tuesday

  • Monday, April 25, 2016

Allstate Insurance Company is bringing its Reality Rides distracted driving simulator to Chattanooga, one of the 20 cities across the country selected this year, to provide drivers with a "safe and engaging environment to experience first-hand the dangers of distracted driving."

The event will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Chattanooga Lookouts Stadium, 201 Power Alley.

"Roadway fatalities are on the rise. Car crashes claimed 38,000 lives in 2015, the highest number since 2008. It’s the number one killer of Americans age 11-27 with teens four times more likely to crash than any other age group," officials said.

Reality Rides is a combination of state-of-the-art technology and a high-definition, virtual-reality monitor draped across the windshield of a fully operational - but stationary - vehicle. Participants use the steering wheel and the gas and brake pedals to drive through virtual traffic, all the while being influenced by real driving distractions that cause collisions.
