This week, Catoosa County Fire Chief Chuck Nichols and Economic Development Coordinator Katie Thomason attended a Local Government Services Day hosted by Rep. Tom Graves at Dalton State College, which brought together more than 30 local government officials from across the 14th Congressional District to learn about services provided by state and federal agencies that could benefit their community.

At the event, officials from state and federal agencies gave presentations and set up booths where local government officials could learn more about the services each agency offers.

The agencies in attendance included the Georgia Department of Administrative Services, Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Northwest Georgia Regional Commission, Georgia Department of Economic Development, Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. General Services Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture.

“I am grateful to all the local government officials who took time out of their busy schedules to attend our Local Government Services Day,” said Rep. Graves. “I know their jobs are challenging, and I hope the services we learned about today will help these men and women serve their constituents more efficiently and effectively. It’s because of dedicated public servants like them that Northwest Georgia is such a great place to live, work and raise a family.”

The event was open to county commissioners, mayors, city councilmembers, sheriffs, police chiefs, fire chiefs, chamber presidents and school superintendents from the 14th District.
