"So You Think You Can't Sing" Vocal Confidence Workshop Will Be Held May 21

  • Thursday, April 28, 2016

Instructor Trish Ferrell Wileman will conduct a vocal workshop at the Mountain Arts Community Center, 809 Kentucky Ave. in Signal Mountain on Saturday, May 21.  The workshop meets from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., with a mid-day lunch break.

I can’t tell you the number of times I hear the response, 'I can't sing,' when I tell someone that I am a voice teacher and choral conductor," said Ms. Wileman.  "The sad truth is, some conversation or situation in one’s past, usually in childhood, creates a confidence blow when it comes to singing, and the scars can last a lifetime.

"If you want to sing, and most everyone does, if you want to feel more confident about singing in your choir or community chorus or even your rock band, join us for a day of singing. We’ll learn some basic tools for good singing. We’ll breathe together, sing together, and talk about the things that just plain scare us about singing, whether it’s with others or just in the shower or car.

"This class will be a casual, non-intimidating way to stretch your vocal wings in a safe and fun environment.  It is my hope that you will walk away with some strategies to make you a more confident singer - no matter where you are in your journey.  Ages nine-99 are welcome."

For more information or to register, call 941-330-5547, email Ms. Wileman at tfwileman@gmail.com, or call the MACC at 423-886-1959.

The workshop fee is $30, paid by check, cash or through paypal at the email address above.
