LaFayette Woman Shoots Male Friend In The Leg; Holds Off Officers For 6 Hours

A six-hour stand off ended peacefully Thursday at 1:57 a.m. when a 56-year-old LaFayette woman was taken into custody for shooting her 49-year-old male friend around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson.

The shooting happened at the home of Roxanne P.
Hurley, 336 Cordell Ave. LaFayette.

According to reports, Ms. Hurley shot Troy L. Hawkins once in the leg with a handgun. Responding deputies were able to remove the injured Hawkins from the residence where he was transported to Erlanger Hospital.
 
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence and a felony arrest warrant for Ms. Hurley, charging her with aggravated assault. Ms. Hurley was arrested about six hours after the shooting by the Walker County Special Operations Group (S.O.G.). Ms. Hurley had secured herself in the residence and refused to surrender to law enforcement.

Ms. Hurley was transported to the Walker County Jail.
