Volunteers And Local Celebrities Are Determined To Collect $20,000 In 3.5 Hours For RMHC Day Of Change June 3

  • Wednesday, June 1, 2016

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga’s annual Day of Change event  will be held on Friday from 7-10:30 a.m. at 39 area McDonald’s restaurants in the Tennessee Valley area.

The event is being held to raise money for families at the Ronald McDonald House who have hospitalized children and to show the importance of giving back even in the smallest gesture, officials said.

"The RMHC Day of Change embraces the importance of giving back to help keep families close to their child and the best medical care. Last year alone, this one day effort to collect spare change collected over $16,000. These funds help support programs at RMHC of Greater Chattanooga that improve the health and well-being of children," officials said.

Dozens of local volunteers will be urging customers to donate their dimes, quarters, nickels or pennies.

Local celebrity volunteers include former WRCB anchor Jed Mescon at the Signal Mountain McDonald’s, UTC volleyball coach Travis Filar and former WTVC anchor Marcia Kling at the Hixson Pike McDonald’s and the Red Bank High School football team and UTC football coach Russ Huesman at the Red Bank McDonald’s.

Regions Bank branches are joining them a week prior to raise money for Day of Change.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press has partnered with area McDonald's to participate. During Day of Change, you can purchase a Times Free Press newspaper for $1 (which features McDonald's coupons) and 75 cents from each newspaper purchase goes back to the Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House.
