James Ward Crutchfield Corn, 18, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after a multi-vehicle crash on Saturday, officers said.

After being involved in the crash, the driver was observed taking a bottle of alcohol out of his vehicle, police said. Corn was described as having slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and an odor of intoxicant about his person.

After field sobriety tests, officers determined Corn was too impaired to operate a motor vehicle and arrested him. At that time, they administered a breath test and showed his blood alcohol content to be above .02.

He has been charged with driving under the influence, drinking under age/sell alcohol to minor, reckless endangerment, leaving scene of accident with damage to vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance.
