DYB State Update: Signal Mountain 10s (2-0) Advance in State Tourney

SM is 2-0 .. Faces Kingston Today

On the strength of David Baker’s two hits and four RBIs, plus scoreless relief work on the mound, Signal Mountain defeated Nashville Parkwood, 8-4, Friday night in the Tennessee Dixie Youth Baseball AAA (9-10s) state tournament in Rockwood.

Today’s Game: Signal Mountain (2-0 played Kingston (2-0) today at 5 p.m., while Parkwood moves to the consolation bracket. The SM-Kingston winner meets Fairview (3-0) Sunday at 1 p.m. in a championship bracket final in the double elimination tournament.

Baker hit a home run and a double and had four RBIs and pitched the final scoreless 3.2 innings with five strikeouts.

Ty Harper started the game for the victors and struck out seven Parkwood batters and allowed four runs in 3.1 innings.

On defense, catcher Preston Kincer threw out a Parkwood runner at third base as Barrett Anderson made the tag, while outfielders Jack Murdock and Blake Wolfard made nice catches of fly balls.

Signal Mountain 18, Rockwood 0

In its opener Thursday, SM defeated host Rockwood, 18-0, as the offense was led by Barrett Anderson (2 singles, triple, 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs, Jake Edmondson (single, double, 2 runs scored), Carson Coffman (single, 2 runs scored, 3 RBIs) and Thad Whitfield (3 doubles, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.

Ty Harper (2 Ks), Jake Edmondston (2 Ks) and Blake Wolfard (3 Ks) pitched one inning each in a mercy rule game called at the end of three.

Lookout Mountain 9-10s: LM was 1-2 in the tourney, losing to Parkwood, 15-0, in the opener Thursday, defeating Rockwood, 15-0, Friday, losing to and falling to Dyersburg today, 14-3.

12-Under O-Zone. Lookout Mountain lost to Sweetwater, 13-1, and Madison American, 7-4, in the tournament being played this week in Loretto, Tenn.
