Dennis Bibbs
Dennis Bibbs, 56, was arrested after police said he broke into a church at 4212 Fagan St. on June 12.
Cynthia Horne told officers that on the night of the incident she heard a dog barking and walked over to the church, where her husband is the preacher, to investigate.
Ms. Horne said she noticed the side door was kicked in and heard a noise inside. While on the phone with 911, she said the suspect exited the building and ran away with a stereo valued at $125.
The witness said she recognized the suspect because he lived nearby and had previously done work for the church. Officers said damage to the church was estimated at over $500.
Bibbs was arrested on Thursday and has been charged with burglary, theft of property, and vandalism/malicious mischief.
