Local Blues Singer Celebrates 80th Birthday

Bernice (Battle) Gardenhire, singer, musician and long-time resident of Chattanooga, will celebrate her 80th birthday Thursday from 6-9 p.m., at Venue 909, located at 909 Crutchfield St.

Ms. Gardenhire, known by her stage name "Miss HiFi," performed with Ye Blues Shufflers Band in the 1960s, opening for stars including Little Richard, Etta James and Tina Turner during their tour appearances in Chattanooga.

Family and friends are invited to attend her 80th birthday celebration.
