Ooltewah's Riley Hickman picked up the Super Late Model win Saturday night as North Georgia Speedway kicked off the second half of their 2016 season after a long two-month-plus break in racing action.

Hickman's # R1 "American Billet, Hickman Manufacturing, Austin Trucking, RH Designs, Competition Racing Equipment, Mayo Racing Components, Tucker Mobile Homes" sponsored CVR / Chevrolet Performance 525 racecar was flanked at the finish by local racer Aaron Ridley, Chattanooga's Tod Hernandez, Jordan Rodabaugh of Soddy Daisy and Alabama's Lavon Sparks.

Fan favorite Lil' John Ownbey got upside down during the feature, destroying his famed blue # J0 Longhorn racecar. Ownbey was uninjured, but the car will need major repairs possibly back at the manufacturer in North Carolina.

Local racer Jeff Smith won the night's Crate Late Model feature driving for Amanda and Allen Green.

North Georgia Speedway opens back up in two weeks for the 3-Day "Red Clay Nationals" worth almost $50,000 in prize money. Super Late Models and Crate Late Models share top billing along with all local classes Sept. 8th, 9th and 10th.
