James “Jimmy” Clayton, 80, of Trenton, Georgia, died on Saturday, August 27, 2016.
Jimmy was a loving husband to his wife Della L. Clayton for 61 years. He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church, and a member of the New Home Volunteer Fire Department. Jimmy was retired from U.S. Pipe and Foundry Company, and an avid bluegrass musician. He was a wonderful man who touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Della Lamel “Nell” Clayton; son Danny Joe Clayton; parents Yancy and Georgia Clayton; brothers, Edwin and Wayne Clayton; and sisters, Julia Wehunt and Dot Agee.
He is survived by his son David Clayton and wife Janet, and their children: Bo (Heather) Clayton, Michelle Driver and Tim Huggins; his son James “Alan” Clayton and his sons: Yancy (Angie) and Dewayne Clayton; and his daughter Lisa Breedlove and her husband Steve, and their daughters: Melanie (Jeffery) Choice and Stephanie Breedlove; siblings Charles and Virginia Clayton, Jean Coffman and Glenda Clayton 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday Aug. 30 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Tildon Moreland officiating. Mr. Clayton will be laid to rest by pallbearers James Melton, Charles Breedlove, Richie Clayton, Chris Clayton, Mike Clayton, and William “Rooster” Hickman at Shantytown Community Cemetery in Trenton, GA.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Ryan Funeral Home and Crematory, Trenton, who has charge of the arrangements.
