Clinton TCAT scholars at August banquet
The Morning Pointe Foundation, in partnership with Morning Pointe Senior Living and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, honored six Morning Pointe Foundation Scholarship recipients during the 2016 Scholar Banquet at Morning Pointe communities in Athens and Clinton.
The Morning Pointe Foundation supports nursing students who are currently enrolled in the TCAT Practical Nursing Program. Selected students demonstrate academic achievement and community leadership as they pursue career aspirations in the aging care field.
Stefanie Fannin, Brittany Parks, and Kimberly Richmond from TCAT-Jacksboro were acknowledged during the Aug.
16 banquet at Morning Pointe of Clinton. Samantha Ward, Chris McConkey and Jessica Parrott from TCAT-Athens were acknowledged during the Aug. 18 banquet at Morning Pointe of Athens.
The scholars participated in a reception in their honor at the assisted living communities, and visited with residents, associates, area healthcare professionals, and special guests.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize nursing students who are preparing to work in geriatrics,” said Lori Hoeger, director of the Foundation. “It was an honor to meet each scholar and to hear why they are passionate about working with seniors. We are very proud of these students, most of whom have families and work full- or part-time while continuing to pursue their education.”
"The Morning Pointe Foundation, founded in 2014 by Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow, connects philanthropic, educational and wellness initiatives, creates community partnerships, and supports caregivers in its mission to advance the care of seniors," officials said.
Morning Pointe Senior Living began contributing nursing scholarship funds in 2008 to Chattanooga State Community College in Chattanooga. The Foundation has expanded its reach to Athens, Jacksboro and Greeneville in partnership with area colleges to raise awareness of growing career opportunities in geriatrics.
