The city of Lookout Mountain, Ga., will be instituting a zero-tolerance policy on speeding and stop sign violations, Councilwoman Taylor Watson said Thursday night.

Due to some recent activity, Chief Todd Gann and the city’s police department will be cracking down in high traffic areas and in the Fairyland School zone.

The council made a motion to approve the retainer of architect Michael McGowan to develop a site plan for the Town Center.  Greg Voges, who owns the adjacent property to be developed, has requested the use of Mr.
McGowan, who previously provided the city with renderings for the town center.  The council also approved hiring an owner’s representative to develop a plan for the budget for the town center development.

The Lookout Mountain, Ga., City Council is considering the recently vacated seat by Beth Soloff and will soon be making an appointment.  The council also thanked the many people who have shown support for the family of Joe Wilson, city employee, who passed away unexpectedly in August.  There is a fund for Mr. Wilson’s family and Mayor David Bennett encourages people to continue to show theirs support.  Donation can be made in Joe Wilson’s name to The Generosity Trust, 736 Market Street, Suite 1402, Chattanooga, TN 37402.

Councilwoman Caroline Williams reported that Fairyland School is off to a good start with a successful fundraiser, Music on the Mountain.  On Saturday, Lincoln will donate up to $8,000 to the school for everyone who comes out and test drives one of the vehicles in the new 2017 Lincoln line up.  Mrs. Williams reported that Fairyland School is currently ranked #7 in the state for best elementary schools.

Wes Hasden, chairman of the Sewer Board, reported that the city has collected several delinquent sewer bills.  He said there are still several properties that are in arrears and final notices will be sent to those properties.
