Sgt. Thomas Douglas Wright, Jr., 23, of Hixson died on Sunday, September 18, 2016.

Tommy lived in Fort Oglethorpe early in life, attending Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High school before moving to Rhea County where he graduated from Rhea County High School. He was a soldier with the Tennessee Army National Guard serving in the Headquarters Battery 1st Battalion 181st Field Artillery “Hit ‘em Hard” serving his country as a missile operations specialist. Tommy was deployed to Kuwait/Jordan on one tour and Afghanistan on a second tour. He loved to ride motorcycles. No matter what kind of day you were having Tommy could put a smile on your face.

Survivors include his parents, Thomas Wright, Sr. (Cathy) and Sharon Grimsley (Randy); sister, Michelle Lewis (Kenney); grandparents, Bill Scalf (Faye) and Pat Scalf (Tony); nieces, Alannah Marie and Makenleigh Grace, his pride and joy; aunts, Debbie Scalf and Lisa Scalf McCaslin (Jeremy); uncle, Brad Wright (Patti); many extended family, friends and brothers in arms. 

Services will be held on Monday, Sept. 26, at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

Visitation is on Sunday, Sept. 25, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
