Robert Anderson
Robert C. Anderson, 64, died on Saturday, September 24, 2016, in Woodstock, Georgia.
Born on Nov. 24, 1951, to Irving and Ruth Anderson in Mt. Clemens, MI, Mr. Anderson moved to Knoxville, TN and graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with an economics degree as well as his J.D.
Robert married his wife, Sharon, on September 9, 1978, and shortly thereafter joined the United States Air Force in JAG Corps and was stationed in Mississippi and Alaska. Robert retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel. Robert’s civilian career began in Fairbanks, AK as the Assistant D.A. and he later became an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Nashville and Chattanooga. He spent 20 years with the Justice Department, only retiring due to his diagnosis of Multiple System Atrophy, a terrible disease he fought against valiantly and one he would wish on no one.
Bob, as he was known by family and friends, was a dedicated husband and father. Nothing made him happier than being outside with his family playing sports. He was an avid swimmer and enjoyed tennis, boating and waterskiing. More than anything, he loved his wife and his children and taught them the value of hard work, honesty and love of family.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Sharon Anderson and his children, of whom he was so proud, Robert C. Anderson, Jr. (Courtney), Charles L. Anderson (Catherine Torrey), Elizabeth A. Rudisill (Joe), and Ellen R. Anderson. He also is survived by five grandchildren, Robby and Charles Anderson, Catherine and Mills Anderson, and Anderson Rudisill.
The graveside service, with military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force, is Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Reverend Joe Novenson presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in memory of Robert to the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition at 9935-D Rea Rd #212, Charlotte, NC 28277, 866 737-5999.
