United Airlines Launches Inaugural Nonstop Flights To New York And Chicago

  • Wednesday, September 7, 2016

United Airlines launched its inaugural nonstop flights Wednesday afternoon to Newark Liberty International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport from Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport.

Airline and airport officials welcomed United Airlines to Chattanooga with a ribbon cutting celebration alongside the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger, Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke and other elected officials.

“We’re extremely appreciative that United has recognized Chattanooga and the region as an opportunity for expansion,” said Terry Hart, Chattanooga Airport president and CEO. “It undoubtedly raises the level of service for our customers as nonstop to New York City has been the most in demand by our business travelers and our top priority. This is a significant milestone for our region, and we’re excited about the impact this service will make on the community”

Departing daily from Chattanooga, United Airlines will offer two flights to both cities on 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 regional jets. In addition, through United Airlines’ Star Alliance network, travelers will be given access to transcontinental service through United Airlines hubs at Newark Liberty International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International.

“We want to encourage the community to support the new service that United is bringing to Chattanooga, as it was our travelers influence that earned us these new routes” said Chairman Dan Jacobson, Chattanooga Airport. ”We are constantly working to understand the travel needs of the community and strategically seek the best opportunities to foster economic growth.”

Same-day early morning departures and evening arrivals are available for both New York and Chicago.
