RIP, Larry Manghane - And Response (4)

  • Wednesday, January 11, 2017

I am sure that everyone who participates in this forum no matter what their political persuasion extends their deepest sympathy to Brenda Manghane Washington on the passing of her husband Larry.

Mr. Manghane was an Army veteran and we thank him for his service to our country.

RIP, Mr Manghane, you fought the good fight.

Thank you for your kind thoughts, Mr. Jones, on the passing of my brother. I just want to make a small correction, however. Larry Manghane is my brother. Brenda Manghane is my sister-sister-in-law. I say sister twice, because she's actually always been more of a sister in the family than an in-law. In fact, there's another Brenda in the family too, who's also more like a sister than a sister-in-law.

Although we've bumped heads on many issues and will likely continue to do so in the future, my family and I are humbled by your obviously sincere kind words.

Brenda Washington (Manghane-maiden name)

I also wish to extend my condolences to Brenda Washington for the loss of her brother.  Loss of family makes for difficult times.

I admire Brenda for standing up for her position and opinion regardless of hate darts from detractors. The idea that one voice has more value than another is the stuff arrogance is made of. We all tend to fall in that trap of surrounding ourselves with like thinkers, and that is a very uninteresting place to be.

The issues you raise seem far fetched to many, until you witness it.

Doug is correct in his assessment. Thanks for sticking around Brenda.

God bless the Manghanes, all three of their Brendas and each and every one of their family. From what I've read over the years, the rest of America could follow their lead and we'd all wind up in a much better place.

And thank you, Brenda Washington, for letting us know a little bit about your brother. I hope you had some time to tell him goodbye. He was clearly loved.

Brenda,  I'm sorry for the loss of your brother, and to the rest of his family, and thank him for his service. We rarely agree on political issues, but sometimes I don't agree with family members or close friends. Hope you'll fire more shots in the opinion section.
