An autopsy on a woman killed in LaFayette on Jan. 16 found the cause of death was manual asphyxiation, Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said.

He said it was also confirmed that Candace Hankins was pregnant.

Sheriff Wilson said additional charges will be placed against David Ryan Walker in connection with her death.

Walker remains in the Walker County Detention Facility.

The 29-year-old Walker County man was earlier charged with murdering Ms.

Hankins, also 29.

The sheriff said she was killed inside a house on Wheeler Road in LaFayette and her body was found in woods behind the house.

He said Walker called relatives to express remorse about the killing. He asked for help in disposing the body, but they refused and left the residence, it was stated.

Family members earlier said Ms. Hankins was four months pregnant.
