Helen Louise White Griffin, 94, of Chattanooga, passed away at her residence on January 23, 2017.

 

She was born June 13, 1922 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Frank White and wife, Ethel Rhodes. Helen was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church Runyan Class, Primary Sunday School teacher and an Acolyte assistant. She was of the 1941 graduating class of Chattanooga High School. Helen was of the United Daughters of the Confederacy-Missionary Ridge Chapter No. 1777; Stuart Heights Neighborhood Association and during World War II she volunteered with the Red Cross in Corpus Christi, Texas. She will be remembered in long standing with Chattanooga Jewelers, Fischer Evans and Templetons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Maxwell Griffin, Sr.

Her survivors include her son, Norman Maxwell Griffin, Jr.; six grandchildren, Norman Maxwell Griffin III, Robert Wayne Griffin, Joshua Edward Griffin, Mary Katherine Griffin Thomson, Samantha Elizabeth Towson and William Scott Griffin; five great-grandchildren, Robert Stephen Thomson, Joshua Dylon Thomson, Sarah Ashley Thomson, Joshua Chander Griffin and Katelyn Claire Griffin; one niece, Peggy Heffington and two nephews, Daniel White and William White.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 4-7 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Jan. 27, at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Arrangements are held by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
