3 Second-Half Goals Lead Covenant Women Over Huntingdon

Three second half goals and another stellar defensive effort from the Covenant women's soccer team propelled the Lady Scots to a 3-0 victory at Huntingdon on Friday night in USA South play.

The shutout is the seventh of the year for Covenant (8-5, 3-1 USA South).
The win was also the third straight for the Lady Scots and moves them up to sole possession of third in the USA South West Division standings.


After Covenant attempted just one shot in the opening half, the Lady Scots scored three times in the final period for the victory. Addy Cronan scored the eventual game-winner in the 54th minute, assisted by Elsa Woody, giving Covenant a 1-0 lead. The goal was Cronan's team-leading seventh of the year. 

Exactly three minutes later, the Lady Scots struck again. This time it was Grace Bartelt finding the back of the net to give Covenant a 2-0 lead in the 57th minute. The score was the second of the season for Bartelt. Grace Buys then capped the scoring with her first goal of the year, assisted by Kyra Duble, coming in the 86th minute for the 3-0 final.

Covenant outshot Huntingdon 6-5 in the second half, but the host Hawks held a 12-7 edge for the contest. Rachel Lemay picked up the clean sheet and made four saves. The shutout is the fourth of the year for Lemay.

Kylie Kersh allowed two goals for Huntingdon as the Hawks used a pair of keepers on the night. Danielle Heim made one save at the net.
