Marie Newsom
Marie P. Newsom, 81, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017, in a local health care facility.
She was born on May 1, 1936, in Hickory, NC. She retired as a pre-school teacher at Highland Plaza United Methodist Church where she was a lifetime member. Marie was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of Burks United Methodist Church.
She was the daughter of the late William and Myrtle Starnes and was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Newsom, three brothers, Joe, Ralph and Donald Starnes, and two sisters, Mary Ann Zinn and Nina Tarlton.
Survivors include two daughters, Cathy (Roger) Puls, of Memphis, Teresa (Chuck) Wallen, son, Greg (Anita) Newsom, all of Chattanooga, five grandchildren, Cory Wallen, Chelsea Newsom, Casey Wallen, Taylor Newsom, Matti Newsom, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12–3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the funeral home.
