Johnson, Opal Tucker

Opal Tucker Johnson, 81 of Ft. Oglethorpe and formerly of Ider, Al., passed away on Wednesday Oct. 4, 2017. She was a member of The Church of God at Rossville. Chickamauga and East Ridge Church of God of Prophecy were also a big part of her life. Opal loved her Savior and her family most of all and also enjoyed reading, southern gospel music and cooking for her those she loved. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Gertrude Tucker; husband, Clarence “C.L.” Johnson; daughter, Karen Johnson Simpson; two sisters; five brothers; mother-in-law, Geanell Johnson Evans. 

Survivors include her children, Felicia Johnson, Tammy (Rick) Harmon and Steve (Kathy) Johnson; sisters, Nina Sarratt, Betty Shankles, Polly Morris and Dortha Steele; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Lawrence Munoz officiating. Burial will follow at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, Oct. 6  from 3-9 p.m. and Saturday until the service at 1 p.m.
